Joined July 14th, 1978, Shipped out with Larry Landry to Orlando, Florida.
Went to 'A' school for CTO in Corry Station, Pensacola, FL, Went to 'C'
school in San Angelo, Texas. Did a month of recruitment duty in Waltham,MA
with Denny Smith my recruiter,Clearance finally comes through and I am
off to Rota, Spain. Worked in the Bull Ring.after a year or so, I did a
Swap and was sent to Washington DC, at first I worked in Naval Security
Station, Comms but was moved up to ComNavSecGru and ran my own Comm Center
as the only woman in the Classic Wizzard Dept. Shipped to home duty, do
to a bad "Jump" and was eventually put on the Temporarily Retired List,
which in 1987, became permanent. I am officially retired. I miss the many
friends I made and wish I could find them again. Life has been hard since
the Navy, constantly trying to create a career for myself. My illness always
kept me from finishing my college career. I have tried 8 times to get a
degree. I am now declared officially 'unemployable'. But here I am at 49
going to College, yet again, only this time I get to do it Online. I want
to be a WebMaster/Interactive Multimedia Specialist. My life started and
ended in the 4 1/2 years I spent in the Navy. I wanted to be a lifer. I
was denied that privilege. I look at my many old photographs from the service
and experience that still moment when I had a purpose and was of value.
If anyone knows me, call me, I would love to rehash old times and catch
up.
