Served from Oct 1940 to Oct 1960. Went to San Diego
Recruit Training Station and was assigned to the USS LANG (DD399) operating
in the Pacific, Atlantic and Mediterranean and went back to the Pacific
for the Guadalcanal invasion. Put the USS CASCADE (AD16) in commission
in 1942. served in the Pacific, and put the USS KENNETH WHITING (AV14)
in commission in 1944. Took a Kamakaze hit at Kerama Rhetto in Late
June, 1945, and assigned to the Bikini ABLE and BAKER Atomic bomb tests,
while aboard the KENNETH WHITING. Advanced to RMC in Sept 1946, and served
with the Pacific Reserve Fleet at San Diego until 1947, thence assigned
to the Navy Radio Station, Adak AL. Assigned for a short period to
the USS BOXER, during the beginning of the Korean conflict. Transferred
to shore duty in June 1950, to the Pentagon, at Washington DC within the
Naval Communication Service, Shore Establishment. Transferred to CINCLANTFLT,
Norfolk, VA in 1953 and served as Chief-In-Charge of Com!
munications until 1957, when transferred to Commander,
Amphibious Group Four at Little Creek Amphibious Base, Norfolk, VA.
Retiring in October 1960.
