On Feb. 9, 1945 I was born at Concord, New Hampshire.  My father was attached to the 9th Photographic Technical Sq. U.S. Army Air Force during the second world war. I wanted to be a military photographer also.  So on the first of Feb. 1962, one week before my 17th birthday, a friend and myself went to the U.S. Navy recruiting office at Manchester, N.H. for testing and evaluation. I was sworn in at Boston, and on Feb.27, 1962 found myself at RTC Great Lakes.  On May 14th I had orders to report to my first duty station, Helicopter Training Sq. 8 (HT-8) Ellyson Field, Pensacola, Fl. I reported at Ellyson Field to train as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. Of course I went right to the Photo  Lab and told the Chief my sad story of wanting to be a military Photographer like my dad. He asked me a few questions, made a phone call, and from that moment on I was a military photographer.
