13 Nov.,1967 Entered boot camp Great Lakes, Il. Company Commander
BM-1 Fleming.
Feb.,1968 Graduated Boot Camp as a FA Ordered to U.S.S. Kearsarge
(CVS-33) Currently Stationed in Wespac. Kearsarge cruise extended due to
the seizing of the U.S.S. Pueblo by the North Korean Navy. Jan., 1969 Changed
Striking to ASHAA transferred to HS-6 NAS Imperial Beach, Ca.
Approx June, 1969 Deployed aboard Kearsarge to Wespac During which
time was involved in a Seato Cruise. Kearsarge was instrumental in saving
lives of seamen during an emergency. The collision the HMAS Melbourne and
the U.S.S Frank E. Evans. Approx Aug, 1969 Transfered to HS-10 NAS Imperial
Bch, Ca. Nov. 1971 transferred to HS-7 Quonset Point R.I. as AMH-3. March,
1972 Deployed aboard U.S.S. Saratoga CV-60 to Wespac. During which coincidence
struck again.
Saratoga was in Southeast-Asia during the siezeing of the U.S.S.
Mayaguez by the North Koreans. In January 1973 I returned to Quonset Point
R.I. Never having to serve in a combat zone again. I was deployed again
in Saratoga in 1974 to the Mediterean Sea.
Transferred to Shore Duty with HS-1 in 1975 and served as a Framp
Instructor for the SH-3 Golf and Hotel Models (Since Obsolete). Upon completion
of shore duty I again had the priveledge to
serve the Shamrocks of HS-7 for my final Med-cruise in 1979. I left
active duty in the Navy in August, 1979.
