Servied aboard USS Vallry Forge LPH-8 1965-66, made a WESPAC on her
then got orders to Subic Bay, put a little over a yr. in there; then my
volonteer chit caught up w/ me and I got orders to go to SERE and Weps.
training going to Vietnam. I arrived there about 0300 on a balmy
Sept morning in 68' spent abt. four days at the Annapolis in Saigon, then
flying in mail chopper out to PBR Mobile Base 2 near Tan Chau on the Mekong
River and in Jan 69 we moved over to Tan An to particpate in Op. Giant
Sling Shot. After leaving RVN. I went to CS "C" school in S.D. Then reported
to VA-34 at NAS Oceana/ deployed on JFK for CARQUALS; did a shore tour
in Phila. Then went out to Pearl to USS Seadragon SSN584, later USSPuffer
and USS Pintado. Then I back to Portsmouth, Va. to be a plank owner
on USS Birmingham SSN-695, my last duty sta. was Naples, Italia. After
retiring I worked onMSC ships for a few yrs.Active duty 1965-85 honorably
discharged.
