I proudly entered Greatlakes RTC In june of 72. reported to my first
command USS Fort Fisher LSD-40 new construction out of Boston, Mass. for
a tour of 3 yrs. home ported in long beach calif. then left the Navy for
6 mo. missed the excitement so reupt for two more years. next home port,
San Diego Calif. aboard the USS Mount Vernon LSD-39 for 2 years. then to
norfolk VA. for four years aboard the USS Vulcan AR-5. then to the pride
of the American Fleet. the USS NEW JERSEY BB-62 for two years. then to
Barbers point, HI. for 2 yrs. as the asst. chief MAA. A great rewarding
tour of duty. ON to Pearl Harbor for 4 years aboard the USS Goldsborough
DDG-20. Then to my final destination , again the USS MOUNT VERNON LSD-39
homeported in Long Beach, CALIF. Stayed in Calif. 9 years in Corona in
Riverside county. Moved into Elba, NY. in oct. of 2000. I have two sons
living with me ages 14 and 12. I am a single parent work for the state
of N.Y. in the DEPT. of Corrections . I still desire to obligate my services
to my country some how, so I feel a good start would be through the state.
the state Militia appears to be the most rewarding challenge of all.
