Reported aboard U.S.S. Princeton
LPH-5 in Subic Bay,P.I.late Dec.1968. Assigned as a BT Boiler Room #1.
During this assignment participated in the A-Bomb test off Amchicta Is.,
AL. and the recovery of Apollo 10, May 1969. Became a Shellback during
the Apollo mission. Princeton decommissioned 1970. I have a piece of the
flight deck from this ship from the Naval Historical Center Washington,
D.C., so, I guess, I am a Plank Owner. The Princeton was based in Long
Beach, Ca.
Then assigned to U.S.S. Dubuque

MOS changed to SF (shipfitter), later reclassified as HT (Hull Maint. Tech).
I was one of the persons responsible for running the Ballast Control Room.
Became accomplished in welding, sheet metal work, Carpentry and Damage
Control. DC duties were #1 hose man on firefighting squad. Overhauled and
revamped Preventative Maint. System (PMS) ship wide.
Participated in several campaigns
in Vietnam on both vessels as well as other missions/activities. Both ships
were 7th Fleet/Gators. Honorably Discharged Sept. 26 1972. I am now a Carpenter.

Unit Commendation(*), National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal(****),Vietnam
