Served from November 1976-October 1980. Went to Orlando recruit
training center. Attended Electricianmate School at great Lakes
Ill.In 1977
Was assigned to Uss Holland As-32 in Holy Loch Scotland. Initially
served
in the Bake shop and then went to R-3 Division, Motor rewind shop.
Became
Supply petty officer for R-3 division and helped repair electrical
motors
on the Submarines. In September 1979 was transferred to Pascagoula
Miss. and
reported aboard the Uss Nassau LHA-4 of which I am a Plank owner.
I was
assigned to the electrical Division and served as the supply petty
officer
for the division. I was on board during the GITMO REINFORCEX 79,
when the
President of the united States ordered the Naval Base at Guantanamo
Bay,
Cuba to be reinforced by a Marine Amphibious Unit. While serving
on The uss
Holland I received The Battenberg Cup Award,two Battle Efficency
E
awards,and the Meritorious Unit Commendation award. While abooard
the USS
NAssau I received another Battle Efficiency E award and The Meritorious
Unit
Commendation. October 1980 was given a Honorable Discharge due to
Medical
reasons. After returning Home I attended College Graduating in 1984
with a BS
degree in Horticulture. I am presently employed as a Estate Gardener
in the Nashville Tennessee area. I am Happily Married with two Boys ages
8 and 6 years of age.
